About the Festival

Relate Oxfordshire’s First Film Festival!

In launching its first Film Festival, Relate Oxfordshire aims to harness the power of film to highlight current trends in human relationships and provide an opportunity for everyone: couples, families and people on their own to pause and take a fresh look at how they relate to each other.

Love in the Time of Twitter

Each year we plan to have a different theme. This year we have chosen ‘Love in the Time of Twitter’ as a way of looking at how social media and ‘24/7’ communications have impacted on our most personal relationships.

Join in the Fun

We hope you will join in the fun as we explore this year’s theme:

  1. Through a short film competition, with entries providing their own unique interpretation of ‘Love in the Time of Twitter’;
  2. Through a series of popular feature films produced during the ‘age of Twitter’ for a ‘Twitter-age’ audience;
  3. And by a key-note address from someone who knows a lot about Twitter and a lot about love.

Film Competition:

On Friday 12 October, our Film Competition shortlist will be screened and judged by our expert panel. We’ll also be showing the excellent BBC documentary about Relate, ‘The Trouble with Love and Sex’ and hearing a talk from its producer and director, Zac Beattie. The Competition.

Feature Films

From Friday night through Saturday 13 October, four feature films will be screened, accompanied by viewing notes and a brief introduction by an experienced Relate counsellor.

Key-note Address

On the afternoon of Saturday 13 October, a guest speaker will pick up on the theme of Love in the Time of Twitter and add their own particular take on what the technology revolution might mean for our relationships.

Tickets for the events over the Festival weekend will be available from the Chipping Norton Theatre from 10 September 2012. www.chippingnortontheatre.com
