Competition Terms and Conditions

  1. The deadline for submissions is August 21, 2012 and entries must be uploaded to the Competition address before midnight on that date.
  2. Submissions must be completed and original (no adaptations other than those based on true events) concepts. No responsibility will be held by Relate, its partners, staff members or those working for the Festival in relation to any infractions on copyright, originality or censorship. Responsibility stays with the entrant.
  3. Submissions should be a maximum of 20 minutes duration and any longer submissions not be considered.
  4. All judges’ decisions are final without recourse to objection, argument, appeal, or legal challenge, and the process of judging will be confidential.
  5. Entrants retain all rights to their work, but by participating in the contest, Relate reserves the right to use excerpts from their submissions as illustrations and for the purposes of advertising, judging and competing. This is not restricted to the use of and screening of the submission, but also to the display of the submission’s details on Relate’s website and other publicity material, including the booking website.
  6. By entering this competition you are giving permission for Relate and affiliated organisations to retain the personal information you have submitted for a period of up to two years from the date of the Festival.
  7. All submissions must be in English or with English subtitles
  8. All submissions must be the entrant’s original and demonstrably legally-owned work. The entrant must be submitting the film to the Competition with the permission of all those significantly involved in its making.
  9. Any and all copyright, liability, intellectual property, ownership, and clearance issues (including musical, product placement) are the sole responsibility of the entrant. This is not an exhaustive list and can be amended from time to time without prior notice. Relate, its individuals, associates, and affiliates accept no responsibility before during or after submission for any issues related to copyright infringement or dispute, ownership issues, slander, liable, or recognizable persons, and all related matters.
  10. Translations, adaptations of another parties work, or previous collaborative works are not considered, and Relate, its individuals, associates, and affiliates accept no responsibility for any infraction in this regard whether before, during or after submission.
  11. All entrants must provide proof of identification if their submission is short-listed as a finalist and identification will be confirmed on attendance at the Festival. Entrant finalists are required to attend the Festival in Chipping Norton on the screening day of October 12, 2012 (or to send a representative). Entrants under the age of 18 years of age must also attend the competition.
  12. Failure to provide identification when requested or to attend the Festival (or send a representative), will lead to disqualification of that entrant’s submission. Relate, its individuals, associates, and affiliates accept no responsibility for any infraction in this regard either before, during or after submission.
  13. Relate, its individuals, associates, and affiliates accept no responsibility for the welfare of materials in transit whether through public or private mail, courier systems or electronic systems, and is not liable for the consequences of any delays or damage resulting in lost submissions. It is the responsibility of the entrant to provide submissions prior to the deadline and in fully working order.
  14. Festival organisers will not return submissions, so please ensure that master copies, and back-ups are retained.
